Hello from Taiwan
« on: February 11, 2018, 01:17:13 AM »
Hello, I actually joined the Alembic Club a couple of months ago and never got around to introducing myself.

I am currently working as a full time session musician here playing for various pop artists. My current main gigging basses are my Sandberg VM4 "rusty" and a Zon Sonus Custom 5 string. I have been interested in getting an Alembic for quite a while because these basses always had a mystique feel to me, like a unicorn if you will. I am currently looking into getting a 1980's Series 1 standard point (or 2 if one pops up and the price is right for me), or a Mark King Signature.

I will definetly post pictures and ask questions when I do acquire my first alembic.

Here is my youtube channe for anyone that is interested in my playing style: https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCsBj45Ull9YTfvk8S5CJSeA

Thanks eveyone for this wealth of great Alembic info!

Welcome to the club Picure, great to have more new members active on the forum.
I presume you have checked Ebay for a 1980's series I. Like this one for example. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ALEMBIC-MSB-1980-1980-excellent-condition/232660796227?hash=item362baa0343:g:Pd4AAOSw2S9afqfK

Hi Picure,
First I would like to acknowledge Joey's comment and sincerely hope you and your loved ones are ok.

Welcome to the camp, I checked out your YouTube page - very nice!  You also already have two very nice basses, but trust and believe, a properly setup Alembic nearly plays itself and the tonal variations that it provides may cause your other basses to gather dust.

Continue your quest and you will be greatly rewarded.

As Chalie always says...
Keep it low and stay out of treble!

Yes! This is exactly the one I was looking at, but I am watching this one on Digimart which has a cheaper selling point there.

Thanks a lot for your concern bigredbass and pauldo. I live in Taipei and we were not effected by the earthquake as much. I had no idea that the earthquake we had had international coverage since we get quite alot of earthquakes here.
