Title: Refinish question
Post by: echo008 on September 15, 2016, 06:41:56 AM
Hello. Has anyone had there bass refinished recently?
I'm considering having my persuader refin'd in wine burst  and I'm wondering exactly what the process and price is?

My bass basically needs an overhaul the bridge and side dots need some tlc and I'm wondering if that's included in the Refin. As well I'm considering having the preamp upgrade and either purple heart or hammered brass covers.
Anyway thanks for reading your opinions and advice are appreciated.
Thanks
Tom

Sounds exciting Tom... might be worth a phone call to She-Who-Runeth-the-Show, for specifics on Spa Treatment Plus. ;)

A complete refinish includes:

Since these items do not always require replacement, they are not included in a complete refinish:Side dots will get polished up with all the sanding and won't be under the finish again.

Right now the shop is booked solid for the next 6 months. We need need 4-5 months to complete the work, so you'll need to book time in advance with me (over the phone is best). I can book the upgrade at the same time, dad's booked 8 months out.

If you already have brass backplates, then hammered ones can be made. The upgrade will turn out better with wood plates, but dad always meets his minimum spec, even with a battery plate in between on PF5 electronics (which he just finished and it came out amazing!).

Thanks Mica I would hopefully go for Refin, preamp upgrade, new tuners and cocbolo plate for the back.
I'm looking hopefully to move on this in Jan or feb. I'll be back in touch closer to the time I'm ready to go.
Thabks

I'd love to see a Persuader in "Wineburst"... there must be one or two painted/tinted Persuaders out there, but at the moment I can only recall seeing one in "Stormburst" finish once. Will be watching with interest.

And hammered backplates... wha - WHERE?! ;D Good call on the Cocobolo replacement. Since my original was worn and screw holes starting to break out, I ordered a new brass backplate for my bass last year. I had thought about using the old one for a template (or possibly a skeleton) to make a new wood backplate. Still might do that one day.

I had a wonderful Excel in Wineburst that I have missed dearly.
